D’vianta Cakes and Desserts are a Latin American-inspired bakery based in Chelmsford. Angela will be bringing a colourful selection of sweet treats, including Tres Leches cakes, alfajores, profiteroles, waffles, and traditional Colombian buñuelos. Everything is made with love and a touch of home!

Time to introduce another two of this Saturday's stall holders 🎉

Next up we have @caspara_treasure and their treasure trove of beautiful enamel pieces and goodies.

Owner Frankie works with a small family business in Kashmir who hand paint and varnish beautiful enamel goods. Each item is individual and will bring colourful joy to your home or garden.

Also joining us is local artist @jessica_sian_ who creates pen and watercolour illustrations of local scenes and sports stadiums.

Jessica will also have her popular Dunmow Christmas cards with her (we know it's early 👀) and details about the workshops she's running in The Maltings, including the chance to paint your own house portrait!

With just a few days to go until our September market, we're introducing a couple of our stall holders.

First up we have @suzisilver925 with her gorgeous hand made silver jewellery.

Sue uses recycled silver to create everything from chunky bangles to dainty rings, right here in Dunmow!

Next up is @marvindesigns with their hand crocheted pieces made using locally sourced yarn.

From toys and baby accessories, to gifts and decorations, we're so pleased Marvin Designs are joining us again this month. It's their last market with us for a few months, so if you had your eye on something last month, be sure to pop back and get it on Saturday!

Today it's the turn of @weebothyart 🎉 A talented mother and daughter duo creating unique, handmade prints and home furnishings inspired by the natural world.

Eleanor, a Scottish-born professional printmaker and art teacher of 30 years, now runs Wee Bothy Art alongside her daughter Holly, an environmental science graduate with a passion for sustainable creativity.

Together, they blend traditional printmaking techniques with a shared love for nature and eco-conscious practices.

Their beautifully detailed designs reflect both Scottish roots and a deep respect for the environment.

Last year Holly was one of our talented Young Traders who made it all the way to the national final of the @marketsmatter yioung Traders Competition, we can't wait to have her and her beautiful products back.

Makers at The Maltings is back! 3 weeks today we'll be hosting our first market of the year in Great Dunmow Maltings 🎉

Our July market is a Young Trader special which means alongside some of our regular stall holders, we're giving business owners ages 30 & under the opportunity to join us for free to take part in the NMTF's Young Market Trader competition. The winning stalls will be given the opportunity to trade at the regional final at London's Broadway Market.

Just over a fortnight to go until our first watercolour workshop with @jessica_sian_ 🖌️ On Thursday 3rd October at 7pm.

Here she is showing you the type of piece you'll create in the session. Your very own watercolour house portrait! It could be a treat for yourself, or you could make a start on the Christmas presents and paint a loved one's house to gift them.

This workshop will cater for all abilities as Jessica will create a pencil sketch for you before the class, then guide you through adding the pen detail and watercolour.

What's more, you'll have the opportunity for Jessica to then turn your work of art into your own set of personalised Christmas cards if you wish.

We're excited to be hosting a new event in our wonderful building! Local artist @jessica_sian_ will be running a Sip & Paint workshop on the 3rd October where you'll be able to create your own pen and watercolour masterpiece!

She'll provide you with a hand drawn pencil sketch of the house you'd like to draw at the start of the session. She'll then talk you through the process of adding the pen detail and painting it.

What a market! We want to start by saying a HUGE congratulations to our winning young traders who are off to the @marketsmatter Regional Final at London's Portabello Road Market in July!

The standard was incredibly high so our judges had a tricky job picking winners, well done to everyone who took part.

🏅In first place was @weebothyart Holly's set up of beautiful hand printed pieces blew us away.

🥈@temperedpeach scooped up second spot with her delicious artisan chocolate.

🥉@kaolin.kiln was awarded third place with her playful polymer clay jewellery.

🎖️@anyascookiedough received a special certificate to recognise her joining us. At only 14 Anya is too young to be judged but wowed the judges and will also go on to Portabello Road.

David is a designer maker, and greenwood worker based in north Essex who uses local wood from Essex and Suffolk to create items for the home.

Every piece is handmade, often from small pieces of wood that would otherwise go to waste, making them a unique addition to your home!

Anya's recently started her business, creating delicious raw cookie dough made to eat straight from the pot.

Inspired by her love of baking, and sneaking raw cookie dough out the mixing bowl, she's built her business! Her cookie dough comes in a range of flavours and tasty bakes!

We are so excited to be hosting some of the areas finest handmade small businesses, so please do pop along and visit us between 10am and 3pm.

If you've not visited us before, you can find our entrance just opposite the Mill Lane exit of the Co-op car park, less than a minutes walk from Dunmow High Street.

As well as our wonderful stall holders, the Dunmow Museum will also be open downstairs which is also free entry, and we may even have some stall holder demos (if the weather is good to us 🤞)

Finally this market is also a special Young Traders Market, meaning that alongside our usual, much loved stall holders, we will also have a selection of business owners joining us who are under 30. These young business owners will be competing for the chance to win a spot at the @marketsmatter region final at London's Portabello Road market.

With our regular stall holder and organiser @jessica_sian_ winning the national title last year, we're excited to be able to host a local heat and give more local businesses the opportunity to compete in this year's competition.

Rachel has been painting her whole life but has only recently taken the leap to sell at markets. She loves nature and folklore and her illustrations and landscapes represent that.

She's recently started lino printing and is loving experimenting with a new medium!

Our Makers at The Maltings Markets are back for 2024 and we're looking for stall holders! For our first event of the year we're hosting a special Young Trader Market as part of the @marketsmatter 's National Young Trader Competition.

Anyone ages 30 & under is welcome to apply for a chance to trade at our event for free and be in with a chance of going through to the regional finals at London's Portobello Road Market later this year!

Tomorrow evening is our late night shopping evening! Why not join us between 6:30 and 10pm for a relaxed evening of shopping with local businesses and festive refreshments.

Things to know:
🚙 Free parking is available in the car park opposite (White Street/Co-op)

🎄 Festive refreshments including mulled wine,once pies and prosecco will be available. There room will also be decorated to help get us all into the Christmas spirit!

🎟️ We have some wonderful prizes up for grabs in our raffle.

🎄 All proceeds from the refreshments and raffle go to the Friends of Great Dunmow Maltings to support the upkeep of our grade II listed building.

🎁 Most stall holders will accept card but a few may be taking cash only.
